(Photo credit: Wikipedia) Michelle Obama. Nancy Pelosi. Marissa Mayer. Lady Gaga. The Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women 2012 list names 100 very unique and powerful women who have made an impact on society. Although these women come from different backgrounds and lifestyles across the globe, they all have one thing in […]
Stand your ground. Hillary Clinton didn’t let a little thing like losing the Democratic Primary stop her from success in politics. Instead, she campaigned for President Obama and accepted a position as the Secretary of State. Christiane Amanpour faced critics throughout her career who thought women couldn’t be foreign correspondents because they weren’t as tough as men. Three decades later, Amanpour is still one of the most influential journalists. Ellen Degeneres turned an issue like sexuality, which could have derailed her television career, into a platform for greater success.
All of these women have persevered, risen above negative criticism, and proved their critics wrong. Don’t let anyone’s small-mindedness keep you from doing a job you know you can do well. Prove you deserve to be in the position you’re in, and work hard to move up the ladder.
So pull from your inner Hillary, Michelle, Lady Gaga, and Ellen to make your mark on the world. Stand tall, refuse to take no for an answer, go about things in new and unconventional ways, and you’ll be on your way to great things.

Neal Caffrey is a ladies man. There is no denying that fact. There have been many different woman in his life that have come and go, but let’s just look at the main three: Kate Moreau, Alex Hunter, and Sara Ellis.
When I first started watching White Collar, I liked Kate and I hoped that Neal would find her and that they would be happy, but a few episodes in, I started to get an untrustworthy vibe from her. This feeling was re-enforced when Peter asked if she ever loved Neal. Not only did she not answer him, but she couldn’t even look him in the eye! That is very telling and since then I’ve believed that she didn’t really love Neal and that she was simply using him.
I’ve also come to the conclusion that Neal didn’t really love her either. As Elizabeth once said, “There’s a difference between loving the idea of someone and loving who they really are.” I think that Neal was in love with the idea of Kate, who he thought she was, instead of who she really was.
The last thing that bothers me about Kate was something we learned in the second when we were given a flashback episode to when they first met. Kate’s reaction to finding out Neal was a criminal is just so wrong. Instead of walking away, she conforms to his way of life! I’m sorry, but I just cannot respect a woman who goes from a law abiding citizen to a criminal just because the man she claims to love is one.
Then there is Alex. Unlike Kate, she did not conform to Neal’s way of life because she already was a criminal. But like Kate, I don’t believer her to be trustworthy. Now, I like Alex, I just don’t like her with Neal.
A perfect example of why I believe these two should not be together is the episode “Ancient History” and so far the last episode Alex has appeared in. Some people claim that that episode ruined their relationship, but I disagree. Their relationship has always been like this. Alex uses Neal and Neal uses Alex. They may care about each other, but they cannot trust each other and a relationship without trust is sure to crumble.
And now Sara. Unlike Kate or Alex, Sara is not a criminal and never has been. She knew Neal and his history full well when she started dating him and she did not allow it to change her…if anything it was Neal who changed.
And unlike her predecessors, Sara is trustworthy. She’s never conned or tricked Neal. The only time she ever came close to betraying him was when she gave Keller the IP address for the treasure, but she did that to protect Neal as well as Mozzie and herself.
Even though I am unhappy that Sara dumped Neal when she found out about the treasure because they are no longer together, I have to respect and admire her for doing it. Kate or Alex wouldn’t have done it. Out of the three, she’s the only one has shown or is willing to show Neal a little tough love…which I think he could use more of in his life.
Someone once made a good point, and that is that the show is about Neal’s journey, about his journey of leaving his criminal past behind and starting over. It’s not an easy journey and he sometimes reverts back to old habits, but (hopefully) in the end, he will be a much better man than he was at the beginning of the show. And if he were to end up with Alex, then he would be taking a step backwards, not forwards.
I know many of you don’t like Sara, but I for one will continue to support and root for her.
